Founded in 2004 by a group of leading electronics companies, the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), is a nonprofit mission-driven organization comprised of member companies and their suppliers committed to working in the collective to advance responsible business conduct throughout their global supply chains. The RBA uniquely brings companies together in a large community of practice and has a Code of Conduct and a range of programs, training, supply chain mapping, data analytics and assessment tools to support collective due diligence and continuous improvement.
The organization has a global footprint, with offices in North America, Europe and Asia. The RBA also has initiatives focused on specific issue areas, including its Responsible Minerals, Labor, Factory and Environment Initiatives, and its Responsible Glove Alliance. The RBA and its Initiatives have more than 600 members with combined annual revenues of greater than $8 trillion, directly employing over 21.5 million people, with products manufactured in more than 120 countries.
RBA members are encouraged to commit to a common Code of Conduct and utilize a range of RBA training and assessment tools to support continuous improvement in the social, environmental and ethical responsibility of their supply chains. In addition to RBA members, thousands of companies that are Tier 1 suppliers to members are encouraged to implement the RBA Code of Conduct.
The RBA regularly engages in dialogue and collaborations with workers, governments, civil society, investors and academia to gather the necessary range of perspectives and expertise to support its members toward achieving the RBA vision and mission. In October 2017 the EICC became the RBA to reflect its expanded reach and influence.
